New Newspapers section
February 06, 2022
The Print Articles page now has a new section for newspaper articles, and our first addition to it is a Polish article about Imposter from Gazeta Wyborcza!
We are now on Instagram and Tumblr!
February 03, 2022
You voted, and Instagram came out on top for a new DGD social media account! Thus, you can follow us now at @davegahandevotion, where I will be posting content on a daily basis about our favorite singer! Finally, just because I wanted to (and it was super-easy), I also have a Tumblr account @davegahandevotion, so you can follow there, too, if you'd like. The content will be mostly similar, but because Tumblr is a lot more flexible about content, I can post things like GIFs and video links on there.
Global Spirit Tour stage jacket sold at auction
January 30, 2022
In a bit of Dave Gahan news, the red jacket that Dave wore during the Global Spirit Tour (shown below) just sold at auction for 16,000 USD!
The auction benefits MusiCares, a charity that helps music professionals in time of need. Other Depeche Mode-related items that were sold in this same auction include a Fender electric guitar autographed by band members, and a collection of DM album singles and Depeche Mode by Anton Corbijn ("XL" edition). If you recall, I had written a feature last year about items of Dave's stage clothes which have sold at auction in the past. You can read it here.
Happy Birthday to us!
January 17, 2022
Dave Gahan Devotion is now 1 year old, so I just wanted to celebrate by first thanking my visitors, readers, and friends that I have made through this website. To think that I started from literally nothing exactly 1 year ago is kind of mind-boggling.
Next, what is in store for this website in the coming year? Well, of course we will be following whatever Dave does professionally this year, including further Soulsavers and Depeche Mode news if any. I also would like to continue the "Creators and Shapers" series with at least 1 more article, and I would also like to start spotlighting all of the men in Dave's life, from fellow band members, family members, and friends in a new series for which a title has not been decided yet. Thus, stay tuned for all of the exciting things to happen in DGD's second year!
Lastly, I have not forgotten about my resolution to start a new DGD social media account this year, but I still need your help in deciding on a platform! So far, Instagram seems to be winning, but I will keep the poll open until the end of the month. If you have not cast your vote yet, please do so!
New Musikexpress articles
January 15, 2022
I have uploaded a couple of print articles from the November 2021 issue of German magazine, Musikexpress, for you to read! I also included English translations of both articles. Read them here.
New Imposter Tour show review
January 07, 2022
I have posted my review of the Dave Gahan bei den Telekom Street Gigs concert, which can be found here and also linked on the Shows > Imposter page. This was the show that was originally livestreamed on the MagentaMusik website from Admiralspalast in Berlin on December 13, 2021.
"Saw Something" music video tidbit
January 05, 2022
It is a little known fact that the music video for "Saw Something" (Hourglass, 2007) was filmed at the historic Hotel Chelsea in New York, a place known to have housed famous musicians like Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop, Bob Dylan, and many others. It is also notorious for several mysterious deaths occurring there, including the murder of Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of Sex Pistols bassist, Sid Vicious, in 1978.
So, why am I mentioning this now? Well, it was recently discovered by Instagram user @ChelseaHotelNYC that the video was actually filmed in the very hotel room where Nancy was murdered. Whether this was known to Dave at the time or not is unclear, but it does give a whole new dimension to the already-haunting video, doesn't it?

New magazines posted, one in French with English translation
January 03, 2022
There are 3 new magazine articles posted in the Print Articles section- 2 are Depeche Mode interviews from MOJO (November 2005 and May 2013, respectively) and the other is an interview with Dave about Hourglass from the November/December 2007 issue of D-Side, a French music magazine. For the French magazine, I not only included pictures of the article, itself, but I also included a transcription of the original French as well as an English translation! I am hoping to eventually give a similar treatment to the other non-English magazines in that section, as well. I could use some help doing that, though, so if that is something you are interested in helping out with, please get in touch with me!
Happy New Year!
January 01, 2022
Here is to a fabulous 2022!
New "Year in Review" article
December 29, 2021
2021 was a very active year for Dave (at least in the second half). Let's recap on the year in this new article and also look ahead to 2022!
We are also coming close to this website's birthday, as well! Because of this, I would like to start something new. If I were to create a social media account dedicated solely to Dave Gahan fandom, something where I would post at least once a day a photo, GIF, video, or other snippet of content, is this something that would interest everyone? And if so, what platform would you prefer? Choose the one that you'd most want to follow in the poll above and I will do my best to make it a reality next year!
