My Take
This song really gives me "Black Celebration" (the song) vibes. There is the slow-moving synth bassline which sounds very dark and ominous and it eventually gets blended with some frantic, faster-moving higher synth notes. That to me is very reminiscent of that earlier classic. The lyrics here seem to speak of a breakup again very much like "Poison Heart" did, and so I wonder if this is a parting of ways between a current and former self like the previous song was. In that sense, Dave's songs on Spirit all seem to be very reflective and share a common theme of wanting to evolve and wanting to become a better person.
